November 22, 2011Nauman Smith attorney, Craig Staudenmaier, was recently quoted in a New York Times article presenting an in depth look at the scandal surrounding Penn State University. The article chronicles examples of Penn State's efforts to protect certain information from public scrutiny including the salaries of Penn State's highest-paid officials; among them football coach Joe Paterno. Penn State under the leadership of former President Graham Spanier spent five years trying to block the release of the salary information. Mr. Staudenmaier, who represented The Patriot-News in its case against the Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System, is quoted in the The New York Times article published on November 21, 2011, saying that he was amazed by how hard the university fought to guard the information.
