Harrisburg's new Latino Hispanic American Community Center (LHACC) officially opened on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Latino music, food and community fellowship at 1319 Derry Street in the Allison Hill neighborhood, according to Nauman Smith Attorney Suzanne S. Friday.  

"The center, which officially opens this week, offers information and referrals for the community, neighborhood businesses, social service agencies and employers looking for workers," Mrs. Friday said.  Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson spoke to the crowd that included Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett, State Representative Ron Buxton and many other business and community leaders. 

The center was praised in a recent Harrisburg Patriot-News editorial and is the result of the vision and hard work of a group of very dedicated board members and volunteers.  Mrs. Friday is legal advisor to the LHACC Board of Directors.
