(Harrisburg, Pa.) - Benjamin C. Dunlap, Jr., an attorney with the Harrisburg law firm, Nauman, Smith, Shissler and Hall, LLC, has joined the Harrisburg Regional Chamber's Business Diversity Advisory Council, which focuses on enhancing opportunities for women and minority entrepreneurs in the region.

The Chamber, through its Business Diversity Initiative, established the Business Development Program to enhance opportunities for women and minority business entrepreneurs by supporting their businesses with educational training, technical assistance, and identification of financial resources. The advisory council is responsible for developing this program.

According to Dunlap, this program is essential to the progress of business in Central Pennsylvania. "Diversity is a key component to the growing business environment in the Harrisburg region. Assisting women and minority owned businesses will have a strong, positive impact on economic development throughout the area," he said.

Mr. Dunlap's primary practice areas are public utility, administrative, business and employment law. He is a member of the Dauphin County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Mr. Dunlap has a strong interest in diversity issues, as shown by his co-chairing (with Ellen Hughes of WITF) the Greater Harrisburg Foundation's Equity for Gays and Lesbians Advisory Committee and his work as a board member and counsel for PenOwl Productions, a multi-cultural theater company in Harrisburg.

An honors graduate of West Virginia University and The Dickinson School of Law, Mr. Dunlap was a member of the Woolsack Honor Society for academic achievement at Dickinson. Admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, all Pennsylvania federal District Courts, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and United States Supreme Court, Mr. Dunlap has been with the firm since 1992.
