High School Students Participate in First Amendment Forum

Eight hundred Parkland High School seniors and members of the local Chamber of Commerce and Bar Associations near Allentown recently took part in an educational forum on the First Amendment. In light of the recent political climate and increased criticism of the media, representatives from the Parkland School District and the media collaborated on the interactive event. Partner Craig Staudenmaier, who represents several media organizations around the commonwealth, helped to plan the event along with David Erdman, former editor of The Morning Call. The forum featured Gene Policinski, a veteran journalist and founding editor of USA Today who currently serves as chief operating officer of the Freedom Forum Institute in Washington, D.C., Professor Chris Borick of Muhlenberg College’s Institute of Public Opinion, and Alice Stinebaugh, Chair of Parkland’s Social Studies Department. In addition to the Parkland School District, the event was sponsored by Muhlenberg College, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Foundation, Nauman Smith and PBS-39. (More)
